The Relationship Between Clothing and Fashion

Clothing objects worn around the human body. In most cases, clothing is composed of textiles or cotton fabrics, but in time it’s also included artificial garments made of synthetic materials and thin, artificial sheets of all kinds of natural materials found in the outside environment and animal skin, used for warmth. Clothing’s function is to keep us warm; it is an imperative for our survival. But, it’s also a source of pleasure and luxury, since clothes make us look good.

The earliest objects used for clothing were simple pieces of fabric such as cloth, gabardine, linen, and wool. Clothing of any kind originally came only in one shade – white. As history progressed, cloth became more detailed and colorful, eventually including other colors such as red, blue, and black. Silk, wool, cotton, jute, hemp, and synthetic fibers are all historical fabrics used for clothing.

The most common type of clothing in India is the Indian subcontinent garment, or sari. The word ‘sari’ (meaning dress) is feminine in origin, indicating the meaning of the garment is clothing worn by women. Garment sari have a longer history than do the other types of Indian subcontinent clothing. The word ‘sari’ has another meaning in Hindi and that is ‘garment worn over the shoulder.’ Sari garments were developed during the Mughal period for both men and women.

A number of South Asian countries, most notably India and Pakistan, have developed a tradition of weaving beautiful textiles and clothing. The art of weaving and tailoring originated with Punjabi, the most commonly referred to tribe in the subcontinent. Today, in areas where local textile industries have not developed to the same level as those in other parts of the world, sewing and tailoring as a profession is thriving. Some styles of clothing follow traditional patterns from India and some are influenced by foreign designs and styles.

Clothing is worn for a variety of reasons. During the day it provides protection from cold, heat, and rain. At night it can provide warmth and comfort while walking in subzero environments. At the workplace it provides protection against the hot sun and harsh noise levels. Through the years clothing has become an integral part of life, without which people cannot survive. It serves as a social norm and basic need.

A number of factors have led to the popularity of certain clothing styles in different parts of the world. Different cultures have differently shaped their view of beauty, and clothing reflects these varying views. There are still many people who wear clothes because they are required by society. Even though this may be the case for some people, it is also true that people like to wear clothes that make them feel good about themselves.

With advancements in technology, clothing can now be produced very well, and in greater quantities. Modern sewing machines are capable of producing high quality clothing. The invention of denim, which was made out of man-made fibers such as nylon and cotton has also led to the prevalence of denim jeans and shirts, among other clothing styles. The fashion industry also contributes largely to the modern styles we see in the clothing stores.

While earlier it used to be considered something of a delicatessen, today fashion has attained a kind of mass-market status. The main factor behind this rise in popularity is the rise in the number of manufacturers in the United States. In order to take advantage of the growing demand there has been an incessant growth in the number of clothing stores, both online and offline. In fact, according to one estimate, there are more than 300 shopping malls located in the United States – offering a wide range of clothing from the most popular brands to the most obscure.
